I'm not trying to second guess the movie i'm just illustrating how the book feels to me. so we have Gandalf and some of the dwarfs treverceing a gloomy middle earth, Smaug as he is depicted in the story of how he took over the mountain, and the goblin king being killed by Gandalf. got to reference lots of vampire bats and naked mole rats for him.
